Welcome all to Spyt Fyre Ranch's first show, the Fall Season Extravaganza. The show shall commemorate the lovely fall season. The show is open to dogs and horses of all ages, levels and disciplines. We're here to have fun and get some experience.

This is a show for those ready to get down and dirty with their animal companions. The show will span over four days, with different events on different days.

Show Begins: August 12th, 2013
Show Ends: November 30, 2013 (can be extended if needed)

There are many people attending this event. It won't be unlikely to see a few dog handlers stopping to watch a few shows or horses being lead from place to place.  Guests are invited to stay at one of the guest cottages, affiliates having priority.

Weather shall range from moderately warm to hot. It heats up by 8 AM, before cooling off around 6 PM. Mornings are slightly overcasts, but it burns off by 7 AM. Nights are a bit chilly, and it is advised to bring blankets and warmers for animals unused to cooler weather. There is a light drizzle on the first day.

Any animal being entered should have the following information noted to me. Individual notes are preferred. Pre-registraion is not required, but is preferred. Animals pre-registered are guaranteed a boarding spot at SFR's kennels/stables.

Rules

Please read and follow these rules. Failure to follow said rules will result in immediate disqualification.
1. No re-using old entries, backgrounds, or lines. (exception being the show was cancelled/not judged, but entry must match requirements of this show)
2. No free to use line art. Commissioned lines are fine.
3. Collaboration is fine as long as both parties are credited.
4. Tracing is discouraged. Should you trace, please follow this method hereAll references should be cited.
5. All breeds (fantasy and real) allowed. Use of powers to win is PROHIBITED. (example being a horse with wings flies over a jump)
6. All animals must be over the age of 7 months. All animals over 2 years are classified as adults.
7. Riders must be over the age of 10 for equine classes and 15 for canine.

:bulletblue: Barrel Racing -- Horse and rider will before a basic barrel racing pattern (here). This is a timed event, used to test the agility of the horse and horsemanship skills of the rider. The barrels are plastic and painted white with one blue stripe around the middle. 
-Horse Tack: Western saddle is REQUIRED. All other tack is up to the rider
-Rider Attire: Long pants and shirt, as well as a Steton. (Note: At least rider's legs must be shown)
:bulletblue: Classical Dressage -- Horse and rider will perform an advanced dressage routine, and show off classical dressage movements (shown here). This will be restricted to older horses and adults, due to the dangerous nature of some of the commands.
-Horse Tack: Black dressage tack, although other colors may be used to accent/decorate. Tail and mane may be styled as the rider wishes.
-Rider Attire: Formal-semi-formal attire. Riders must wear gloves, a dark-colored jacket or a long-sleeved shirt or pastel button-up/collared shirt, and breeches of some kind. Hair should be tied back or put in a bun if longer then the chin. (Note: At least rider's legs must be shown)
:bulletblue: Competitive Dressage -- Horses and rider will perform a basic dressage routine, showing off the free walk, medium walk, 20 m. circles, etc. Horse must be pictured in an action pose.
-Horse Tack: Dressage tack, either black or dark brown.
-Rider Attire: Formal-semi-formal attire. Riders must wear white/tan gloves, a dark-colored jacket or pastel button-up/collared shirt, and breeches of some kind. Hair should be tied back or put in a bun if longer then the chin. Top hat or helmet are recommended. (Note: At least rider's legs must be shown)
:bulletblue: Cowboy  Mounted Shooting -- Horse and rider will race down a set path, using a single action .45 caliber revolver to hit balloon targets. The gun shoots blanks, which will pop the balloon as long as it is within 20 feet. Example of mounted shooting here.
-Horse Tack: Western saddle and bridle is REQUIRED. All other tack is up to the rider.
-Rider Attire: Long pants and shirt, as well as a Steton. (Note: At least rider's legs must be shown)
:bulletblue: Halter (Adult and Foal) -- Horses are shown in hand, neither led or ridden, with their halter. They will showcase their qualities as breeding stock.
-Horse Tack: Halter and lead are REQUIRED. No other tack permitted.
-Handler Attire: Casual wear accepted. Handler is not required.
:bulletblue: Liberty (Adult and Foal) -- The horse will be let loose in an enclosed area to strut their stuff. It is up to the horse to show off their breedable qualities and any cool tricks they have.
-Horse Tack: No tack required. Young foals or difficult horses are allowed to wear halters.
-Handler Attire: Casual wear accepted. Handler is not required.
:bulletblue: Jousting -- Horse and rider will be paired against another rider in a charge. Due to the dangerous nature of the competition, only riders over the age of 21 may participate. Horses must be at least 15.2 hh to particpate. The pairings will be done based on size.
-Horse Tack: Armor and proper jousting saddle are mandatory. Decorative tack is encouraged.
-Rider Attire: Must have armor, shield, and lance. Shield is held in the left hand, while lance is held in the right. The lance will cross over the horse's neck (shown here).
:bulletblue: Roping -- Horse and rider will have to catch and rope either a goat or calf. The goat if for younger riders, while calves will be used for more experienced riders. One team member will rope the horns, allowing the second rider to rope the back legs. 
-Horse Tack: Western saddle and bell boots required.
-Rider Attire: Jeans and gloves are required. Spurs are optional.
:bulletblue: Western Pleasure -- This event evaluates the horse's gait. Can it move in a relaxed fashion, with a collected gait? The horse should appear comfortable to ride, being very smooth and calm.
-Horse Tack: Western saddle/blanket, with a western bridle.
-Rider Attire: Jeans and a short sleeved shirt of some kind.

All dogs must wear either a collar (nylon or leather) OR harness at all times. 
:bulletblue: Agility -- Dog will go through a series of obstacles, including a jumps, chutes, ladders, rings, and poles.
:bulletblue: Disc -- Dog must be shown jumping to catch the disc, catching the disk, landing, or retrieving the disc (unless of course they miss the disc).
:bulletblue: Dock Diving -- Dogs will attempt to catch and retrieve different objects thrown out over the lake.
:bulletblue: Earth Dog- For breeds such as the dachshund only. Dogs will sniff out a group of mice and track them to their nest. The dog should bark when they find the den and wait for the handler before entering. The mice will be contained in a small barred cage. The dog should continue a consistant bark to alert the handler.
:bulletblue: Herding- Dogs may work alone or in a pack (limit of three per group). The dogs will hunt one of the following: duck, deer, sheep, or cattle. Dogs should approach the target before herding it towards the designated enclosure. If any of the animals try and escape the group, the dog should herd them back. Once that is done, the dog should rest next to the animal.
:bulletblue: Hunting -- Dogs may work alone or in a pack (limit of four per group). Dog will track target (deer, moose, or bear), leading a party of three people (handler, on of SFR's staff, and a judge) towards the target. Once the target, who shall be kept inside a large, fenced in area, is spotted, the dog should begin to bark until the hander arrives. The trail should take them through the forest, including tall grass, small streams, brush, and scents of other animals. 
:bulletblue: Schutzund -- For this show, only obedience and protection will be tested. More information here.
:bulletblue: Tracking (Adult and Puppy) -- Adult dogs will track a "missing" person through the mountains, down to the beach. The missing person will be located along one of the tide pools, hiding among the rocks. Puppies will also track a missing person, but they will be going around the ranch. From the main office they will head towards the mare pasture, before circling back to the isolation kennels. The missing person will be waiting inside.

:bulletblue: Parade Pageant -- All willing participants will walk from the stadium, back up to the main ranch, and out to the orchard  Everyone is allowed to dress up and participate. After passing the old barn, riders are allowed to mount up and ride to the orchard. Two wagons will head out (pulled by SFR's own Ice Duchess and Drinking Buddy) will take anyone who wishes to go without walking out.  The path will be lit with torchs. A large BBQ will be held in the orachard, along with music, dancing, and star-gazing, once it's late enough. Horses are allowed to free graze and roam, but can be placed in a temperary pen if needed. Dogs are also allowed to roam, as long as handlers keep an eye on them.
:bulletblue: Ariel Acrobatics -- One of SFR's special classes, Ariel Acrobatics is aimed for our animal friends with wings. It is completely informal. Each dog/horse is required to perform a set routine while airborne, either alone, in pairs, or groups. This will show off their focus, creativity, and give them a chance to stretch their wings. (Note: Animals that have wings that are usually hidden may have their wings hidden the rest of the show)
:bulletblue: Trick Riding -- Now here is something the whole family can enjoy! Any horses and riders trained for trick riding may participate. Something of a talent show, each horse will show individual tricks they've learned. Group and pairs may also show, although it will be done at the end. This is for riders 16 and over.

40%- Effort (compared to rest of gallery)
20%- Story (each entry must have at least two sentences on how the competition went)
15%- Ascetic Appeal (clean lines, shading makes sense, etc.)
15%- Accuracy (of breed, discipline, and attire)
5%- Prior Experience
5%- RNG

Grand Champion and Reserve Champion (for both canine and equine) will be chosen based on the amount of shows they enter and how they perform. Only animals entered in two or more classes qualify. (A dog can enter all the shows they'd like, but if they misbehave in all of them then they're unlikely to get the title) Grand champion and reserve are cancelled unless at least 10 people enter.

People who advertise the show, either by journal, poll, or just word of mouth get prizes. Link me to any journals you've done to advertise (bonus points if you submitted it to a group) via notes. If someone refers you to the contest via word of mouth, let me know. Should you participate they will get a prize.
